Student Speaker

Vasu MacherlaVasu Macherla (CBE’2023)

Vasu is from Plainfield, Illinois, and is graduating with both a B.S.E. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a concentration in Pharmaceutics and Biotechnology, and a B.S. in Economics with a concentration in Business Analytics.

While at Penn, Vasu was involved with the Engineering Deans’ Advisory Board (EDAB), which is an organization that serves as a liaison between Penn Engineering students, faculty and members of the School’s administration. She was also involved with the Engineering Student Activities Council, Consult for America, and the Wharton Undergraduate Healthcare Club. She conducted epigenetics research at Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine and served as an Orientation Peer Advisor for incoming engineering students. During her time at the University she also explored her interests in entrepreneurship, from designing an active-cooling vaccine carrier to address medical cold chain faults, to more recently working on developing a novel chicken feed to target the devastating avian flu outbreaks.

After graduation, Vasu will be joining a management consulting firm as a business analyst in Boston, MA.
