Rajeev Misra (ME’85, GEng’86, PAR’28)
CEO, Co-Founder of One Investment Management; Former Co-CEO, SoftBank Vision Fund
Rajeev Misra is the CEO and co-founder of One Investment Management (OneIM), a global alternative investment manager that invests across the capital structure in a range of asset classes, industries, and geographies. The firm applies a flexible investment approach driven by fundamental analysis, focusing on credit special situations and capital dislocations.
OneIM is sector-agnostic and targets complex situations that do not fit into a single asset class, where truly bespoke structured investments can offer superior risk-reward dynamics and asymmetrical outcomes. Founded in 2022, with offices in Abu Dhabi, London, New York, and Tokyo, OneIM currently has approximately $7 billion in assets under management.
Misra previously held several senior leadership roles at SoftBank Group, including as the CEO of SoftBank Investment Advisers. He worked alongside SoftBank CEO and Founder Masayoshi Son to set up SoftBank’s Vision Fund, overseeing its growth from a 10-person operation to more than 500 employees. Under Misra’s leadership, the Vision Fund became the world’s largest technology-focused fund, with more than $100 billion in capital.
Misra led the fund’s investment process as it backed more than 350 companies across China, Europe, and the United States. Notably, he spearheaded several high-profile investments in Vision Fund portfolio companies such as Uber, DoorDash, BikeDash, Slack, and Grab, where SoftBank was the largest shareholder.
Misra has deep relationships with more than 100 founders, including global brands such as Uber and Deliveroo. While at SoftBank, he helped raise $10 billion of capital for Sprint and facilitated the merger between Sprint and T-Mobile US, a deal that created one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies by market capitalization. Misra was a member of SoftBank’s Investment Committee and a SoftBank Group Board member from 2017 to 2020.
In 2009, Misra was hired by UBS to turn around the bank’s fixed-income business, serving as the Global Head of Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities until 2013. From 1997 to 2008, he was the Global Head of Credit and Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank, transforming the desk into one of the world’s most powerful and profitable investment banking platforms. He began his career at Merrill Lynch, where he rose rapidly to the role of Managing Director over eight years.
Misra is currently a Board member of the University of Pennsylvania and MIT Sloan School of Management. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was one of nine students globally – and the only one from India – to receive an academic scholarship. He also has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
