Atoms & Algorithms: From Simulation to Synthesis in AI-Driven Materials Research
April 14 at 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
FreeAs part of Penn’s AI Month, join the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in a panel discussion to engage with how AI is embedded into materials R&D, where it works, and where it breaks.
The expert panel, moderated by former White House National Climate Advisor and Penn Professor of Practice Ali Zaidi, will explore:
- AI-driven materials discovery and screening
- Translation of models into physical experiments
- AI-enabled characterization and data extraction
- Integration of physics, data, and engineering constraints
This event also serves as the kickoff for a Penn “AI Integration for Materials Innovation Hub” led by Zaidi to coordinate work in AI-accelerated materials science and engineering across Penn.
Panelists include:
Professor Shu Yang, Materials Science and Engineering
Professor Nat Trask, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics
Ph.D. student Vinayak Vinayak, Shenoy Research Group
Ph.D. student George Hollyer, Stach Research Group
